They pretty much develop themselves, SG. I will usually start off with a first scene in mind, pretty clear in my head ... and as I write the characters, and they start talking, I get to know them and can build on who they are. I never write personality profiles beforehand ... I just write and let them go.

That is one reason, yes. If you give some other companies six months ahead of time to see your sets, they will rush knock-offs onto the market before your sets come out.

As I mentioned, Book 8 takes place between 2013 and 2014. It is considered a bridge story.

Simple. The book was coming out in early 2013, which is too early to show what nindroids look like. So they could not be in the book.
