So bionicle 2015 has been anounced and we now know that the mask of creation is official. Will we be seeing a physical (real) version of the mask that we could put into our precious collection?

Something has been bothering me for a while. What is the canonical ending to the '01 story? In the C.A. Hapka book, the Toa from the Kaita, fight two Manas, and face off against shadow versions of themselves. In MNOG, the Toa form the Kaita, battle a whole bunch of Manas, and fight the Makuta Shadow cloud. And in the Bionicle Encyclopedia, it states that the Toa fought some Manas as Kaita, and absorb the Shadow Toa into themselves.

Is there an 'official' canon ending? If so, what was it?

According to BS01:

Tridax Pod is also found in the model, but has no storyline significance and is only there to promote the feature. A maskless Matoran-like figure is also included in the combiner, however, it is only there to show the connection feature and has no involvement in the story.

Mr. Farshtey,

I'm sure you've been asked this before but who are your top five favourite BIONICLE characters?

Thanks, sorry if you've already answered this before.

Hey Greg! I've been a Bionicle fan since the very first comic arived in the mail almost 15 years ago and can deffinitely say it had a major impact on my life. So thank you for your involvement in the story! A couple quick questions:

1. Why did it take so long to reveal the Vahki sets and Kanohi Ignika design? I remember only seeing promotional art of the Vahki and MoL for months before the sets were released...was this intentional on LEGO's part due to release dates?

2. Did all shadow matoran from Karda Nui have their masks transformed into ignoble masks? Or were Kirop, Gavla, Radiak, and Vican exclusively given minor complimentary masks that could be used to aid their respective Makuta in battle?

3. Finally, (I hope you can answer this) are there plans to have comic books again with Bionicle 2015?

Thank you!

1) No idea. I did not work  on the marketing end of things.

2) All shadow Matoran had negative masks

3) Not that I am aware of.

I'm not allowed to discuss future product plans.

Greg can Bionicle 2015 continue the old story some how? Because I don't want the old story to be distroyed!

You will get a better feeling for what plans are after New York Comic-Con. But keep in mind that the old story started 13 years ago and ended four years ago, and very, very few current 8-9 year olds have any idea about any of it. So if they have to try and catch up on old story to get into BIONICLE, the odds are they won't bother.

You also should not think of anything as being "destroyed." DC Comics reboots their universe all the time. It doesn't mean the old stories never happened or have been destroyed,  it just means they have moved the new stories into a different reality.

Bump.

And another question, do you personally like the look of the BIONICLE 2015 sets?

As I said earlier today, it is pointless to ask for my "personal opinion" on things, because what you will get is my opinion as a LEGO employee.

I see. So how does the story and sets compare to BIONICLE 2001?

I really have no idea how to answer that, because it is something that is completely subjective. How I see this would not be how you see it, probably, so I don't see where my opinion on this really matters.

Greg, any chance of a new BIO movieThinking? Also, I heard no comics. Is this true? Lastly, will there be books at least if there's no comics?

1) No idea. May well depend on how sets sell.

2) No comics planned THAT I KNOW OF for 2015.

3) Yes, there are plans for books for later in 2015, but I do not know what kind of books or who will be writing them.

In the BIONICLE 5 movie stuff there was a Skrall that followed Mata Nui which was nicknamed something along the lines of "bucket head". In these pictures:

You can see a Skrall hanging out alongside Mata Nui and friends. Is this the same "bucket head" character? Why is he there?

I have only a vague memory of this.

You mean the BIONICLE 5 script?

BIONICLE 5? BIONICLE 5 never had a script. We  hadn't even gotten a story direction approved yet when the line got cancelled.

I meant screen treatment.

No screen treatment for BIONICLE 5 existed either. We were literally having our first meeting to discuss possible story for 2010 when we were told the line was being cancelled. So all that ever existed for this was random ideas in my head, none of which ever got reviewed or approved by the story team. Thus they are largely meaningless.

But you  posted it on BZPower in like 2009. That is how we found out about the Earth Tribe. A quick google search of 'BIONICLE 5 Screen Treatment' will bring up your blog post...

That wasn't an official screen treatment, though. As I said, that was my ideas. I never got commissioned to write a screen treatment for that movie (though I probably would have been, if the movie had been made) and none of that ever got reviewed and approved by the story team.

Then how did the Earth Tribe become canon?

Because someone asked me about some time after BIONICLE ended, and at that point there was no one besides me paying any attention to the old universe.

I would go with the Encyclopedia ending. The problem with '01 was that the official ending was supposed to be in a video game, which then got cancelled, so were building up to an ending that we then couldn't show.

1) Does Artakha have any abilities that were not seen in story? At some point I thought could have telekinesis, but this was never seen in story and I forget why I thought of it.

2) Something I noted to be consistant with Artakha's powers is their ability to bypass most shields, would any aditional abilities also have that function?

3) The first two questions made me wonder, if he knew it was coming could a Hau user block a Matatu, or would a Matatu be able to move objects around inside of the Hau's shield? And if Artakha does have telekinesis would this be able to bypass a shield like that?

4) Had Teridax not intervened when he did in chapter 10 of Reign of Shadows, would Artakha have been powerful enough to subdue the 6 combatants had the battle continued, would he have taken a side, or would there be a third alternative where he actually managed to talk them down? If the third, just how much damage to Makuta's plans could that have caused?

5) Should the new BIONICLE line do extremely well (be it a reboot, continuation, or whatever else it may be), would it be possible that LEGO would allow you to continue the online serials and would you want to continue them? At least to a more satisfying conclusion for the older fans.

Thank you very much for any answers you give and thank you for all you did on BIONICLE. I hope you get to work some on the new story, if you have time and want to, and I hope you have a great day. *elegant bow*

Burried I think. I replied wrong and i don't know how to edit that post

1) It's possible, but I do not have any idea what they would be.

2) See answer to #1

3) The Hau protects against physical attack, if I recall correctly, not mental attack

4) I wrote that story too long ago to remember the circumstances

5) I tend to doubt it. I think bringing the serials back would confuse new fans enormously. If, as you say, it was a reboot, then having as reboot story running at the same time as old story would be really confusing.

1. Are Shadow Matoran known as Kra-Matoran by other species, like the Matoran, Toa, Turaga , ect?

No. Shadow Matoran existed in Karda Nui. I don't think we have seen evidence that they existed elsewhere in the MU (feel free to correct me if I am wrong), therefore there would be no reason for them to be called anything by the population at large.
