Mr. Farshtey,

You recently said that the Mahri couldn't have worn normal masks during the 2007 story because they masks and tubes were what allowed them to breathe water. My question is this: After Matoro made the others amphibious, would they need the tubes to breathe air? If not, would they be able to wear normal masks while on land?

Thanks!

Yes, they would be able to wear normal masks while on land.

 .

1. Are Agori and Glatorian the same/related species or completly seperate? Like, are the Glatorian maybe a warrior class of Agori, or perhaps there is a recessive "Glatorian Gene" to explain why they are more rare?

3. About how much elemntal power do Turaga have? I have a head cannon that they can't control their element, but they still have a connection to it and can sense disturbances in it, and I was wondering if this was close to accurate?

3. In the Mutran Chronicles, Pridak said that he and the other Barraki were Mata Nui's choosen rulers. Did Mata Nui actually entrust them with that reponsibility or was this simply how they justified themselves, kind of like how real world rulers justify themselves by saying they are backed by God.?

4.What is your favorite thing about Bionicle? Mine is the amazing lore and how the mythology blends so perfectly with the sci-fi aspects.

5. Kinda similar to the previous one, but what would be your favorite moment from the original Bionicle story?

5. Does LEGO take other things into consideration when discussing the success of a franchise besides set sales, like for instance book and movie sales?

Thank you so much for doing this chat, it means so much to me and a lot of other fans.

1) Separate

2) Basically, if a Toa can start a bonfire, a Turaga can light a torch

3) They were intended to rule and essentially keep things under control, but they let their lust for power get the better of them

4) The depth of the story

5) Probably Matoro's death, because I thought it was very moving

6) Not really. LEGO is primarily a toy company. Books and movies and such are intended to help toy sales. If you have great book sales, but  bad toy sales, LEGO won't be making enough  money to make it worth keeping the line going. And if you have bad toy sales, the odds are publishers won't want to put books out.

I wrote something like 800,000 words of BIONICLE in my time on it, so no one quote jumps out at me.

I have only a vague memory of this.

You mean the BIONICLE 5 script?

BIONICLE 5? BIONICLE 5 never had a script. We  hadn't even gotten a story direction approved yet when the line got cancelled.

I meant screen treatment.

No screen treatment for BIONICLE 5 existed either. We were literally having our first meeting to discuss possible story for 2010 when we were told the line was being cancelled. So all that ever existed for this was random ideas in my head, none of which ever got reviewed or approved by the story team. Thus they are largely meaningless.

But you  posted it on BZPower in like 2009. That is how we found out about the Earth Tribe. A quick google search of 'BIONICLE 5 Screen Treatment' will bring up your blog post...

That wasn't an official screen treatment, though. As I said, that was my ideas. I never got commissioned to write a screen treatment for that movie (though I probably would have been, if the movie had been made) and none of that ever got reviewed and approved by the story team.

Then how did the Earth Tribe become canon?

Because someone asked me about some time after BIONICLE ended, and at that point there was no one besides me paying any attention to the old universe.

So how come you said you can't add anything else to the canon universe? Thinking

I don't recall saying that I can't -- what I can't do is name things. But there is a limit to how much I want to canonize, because I don't see the point in making the old universe that much  more dense and complex.

Are you still allowed to add stuff to old canon now, like through LMB, since BIONICLE is returning?

I probably could add things to the old universe, but I am reluctant to do too much. I think doing clarifications is important, but some of what I get asked is just adding complexity for the sake of adding complexity, and I don't see the point of that.

Hey Greg, will the new Bionicle story be pure fantasy, or will it be science-fantasy like the old storyline?

Afraid I will have to say "wait and see" on this, as I do not want to get ahead of the BIONICLE  team on this. There is some stuff I know that I cannot share yet, and some stuff that goes to your question that I frankly do not know.

Hello Mr Farshtey,

I had a few questions, regarding a tabletop roleplay I'm writing:

1) Can Vortixx use Kanohi? And if they can, how would they be attached to their heads? Like a hat possibly, or would they need custom made ones to fit their heads.

1.a) Did Roodaka get captured again over time?

2) Did the other "prisoners" in the Fortress on Bota Magna escape as well? Especially Hafu and Kapura?

3) Can the Red Star be fixed, AT ALL?

4) What would New Atero have looked like? Split between Agori, Glatorian and the Matoran Race (including Toa and Turaga), or is everyone mixed? Divided in sections like Metru-Nui?

Kind Regards, Laura

Got snowed under, I'm sorry.

1) No

1a) No

2) Yes

3) Yes, but first you would have to find a way to get up there to do the job.

4) I like to think it would have been a fully integrated city

Hey Greg? A lot of people often believe the set called "7216 Gold Good Guy" is Turaga Lhikan. This set was a small promotional one included with Duracell batteries in a 2006 promotion. (If you have no idea what I'm talking about, just search up the name on Google.)

Even if this set isn't Turaga Lhikan, it at least had to have had inspiration from that character. Not only is it the perfect size for a Turaga, it also has the correct color scheme of dark red and a gold mask. Actually, it has the exact same mask as Toa Lhikan. The character also carries a small staff, just like all other Turaga.

So is this canonically Turaga Lhikan? And if it isn't, could you make it canon?

So, since you can still cannonize things for the old universe, would it be possible for Biosector01/BZPower to have MoC contests to build characters that were never made into sets, like they did with Tobduk and a few others? *coughcanthelpbraggingibuiltthewinningtobdukmoccough*

1. Wait, hold the phone. Greg, did you just confirm that Axonn, Brutaka, Helryx, Miserix, Tuyet, Vezon, Hafu, Kapura, and Artakha escaped the Great Being's fortress before Velika could blow it up?

2. Did the cursed Great Being also escape? Was he freed by the beings taken from the Core Processor?

It's probably not something I could get involved with. I don't think LEGO is going to want me front and center like that on  old story when they are trying to promote new story.

Hey Greg:

1a) What was Velika doing during Teridax's reign, and what would he have done if Teridax targeted him for elimination?

1b) Also, was Velika aware of Teridax's "Plan" all along?

1c) The answer to this is probably obvious, but was Velika concerned about Teridax threatening to conquer/destroy SM?

2) Who's stronger, Toa or Skrall? We know that both of them are physically stronger then Glatorian.

3) If it's okay with you, can you finally reveal what the brains of MU inhabiiants are made of?

4) Does the new story bible go into detail about the anatomies of the characters? I always enjoyed the biomechanical aspect of the old Bionicle storyline because it gave it a sci-fi feel.
