First off, I just want to thank you for taking time out of your schedule to sit down and put up with us fans as you answer our questions. It really means a lot and I still have many fond memories of BIONICLE when I was younger. I'm still quite astonished about how you wrote Teridax as this awesome, terrifying, manipulative vilan who twas able to trick the heroes into doing what he wanted... He really stood out from all the other "bad guys". So thank you for writing my childhood as well. Anyway, I have a few questions;

1) Considering that the Toa Mata were never matoran, and they pretty much fulfilled their "destiny" of awakening Mata Nui, could they relenquish their powers and become Turaga if they wanted to? What about Helryx?

2) How'd you guys at the story team even come up with the name "Teridax"?

3) What did you imagine the Marendar to look like exactly? Or do you not remember anymore?

4) If you could have any one Kanohi mask power, what would it be and why?

5) Of the characters who never got their own sets, (such as Lariska, Helryx, Arthaka, etc.) which character would you have wanted an official set of the most?

6) If you could redesign any of the official BIONICLE sets, which set would you change? How would you change it? Why?

7) If you could go back in time and write the Gen1 storyline and lore all over again, what's one thing you would change or do differently? Why?

8) Do you have any of the new 2015 BIONICLE sets yet?

9) Which of the new set is your favorite?

10) I understand you may be reluctant to reveal The Shadowed One's real name, but could you at least give us fans some hints about it (i.e the first letter in his name, how many words there are in his name, etc)?

11) This is more of a joke than anything else, but... Regarding 2015 and the island of Okoto... Is there a giant robot under this island too?Joking

1) Yes, they could. They have chosen not to.

2) Same way we came up with all the other names. Put some letters together, run it through Google to see how many hits you get, then have Legal check it for trademark and other issues.

3) I didn't. I don't picture things, I think in words, not images.

4) Probably stealth

5) Lariska

6) I'm not a set designer, I don't have that kind of mindset, so I wouldn't presume to change what they do.

7) Easy. I would have dropped the entire 2005 storyline. Doing a flashback within a flashback was a bad idea and having Vakama go bad was a worse idea. I am glad they were not my ideas, I just had to execute them.

8) No. We don't get the chance to buy sets here until they are out in retail.

9) I don't have a favorite.

10) I don't see the point of this.

Hey Greg, I have a theory on how EP is generated: do you think that perhaps small amounts of a Toa's "life energy" can be converted into Elemental Power by him/her (With Elemental "reserves" being the amount of life energy that can be safely converted without harming the user)? It seems like a really cool spiritual/fantastical quality for them to possess. This also makes sense in-universe, because it was stated when the Toa Nuva had their EP drained by the Piraka that once the Toa ran out of Elemental Power, they would continue to drain themselves of energy (presumably life energy) until they died.

No idea. I have no clue what the original BIONICLE creators intended to do with this, if anything, and it's not something I am that interested in nailing down.

1) About Dume's Badge of Office: was it transformed from his Toa tool(s)?

1a) Does it have a name, or did he decide not to name it?

2) We know that there were originally plans for a Toa Ahkmou set, but my question is, was a prototype of it ever built?

2a) If so, did you see it?

2b) If so, did it wear a Great Rau, or a more evil-looking mask?

2c) Was he on a vehicle like many other sets in summer 2008, such as Mazeka, Vultraz and Antroz?

3) Did the Turaga of Mata Nui take the surviving Krana-Kal with them to Metru Nui, and again to Spherus Magna? Or did they leave them behind on the island of Mata Nui?

3a) If they were left behind, were they later destroyed by the Bohrok, or drowned upon Mata Nui's reawakening?

4) Were Nuparu's new Boxor vehicle prototypes also brought to Spherus Magna?

Thanks in advance!

1) I really don't remember his badge of office well enough to answer this. That was 10 years ago.

2) No, no prototype was ever built. It was very, very, VERY rare that a prototype would be built of a set that then did not get released. I can't actually remember it ever happening, not for BIONICLE, anyway.

3) Probably to Metru Nui, I do  not know if they brought them to Spherus Magna.

4) That is the sort of thing that would be salvaged later on, if possible. It wouldn't have been a first priority to get out of the robot.

Hi Greg. Two Questions: If you could have a conversation with a BIONICLE character, who would it be and why? When writing, for LEGO or otherwise, is there a particular kind of character you find more challenging to write for? Thanks

1) I feel like I have already done this, because I wrote about all of them for so long.

2) I find "normal people" hardest to write for, because I don't know any to base the characters on.

Greg, you recently said that if one forge a mask of a disk, the mask will have the disk's power. If I combine a Growth and Regeneration kanokas(components of the Hau), will I have a disk of shielding ? If I use it on a target, will it generate a force field around him ?

Yes and yes.

10.Is there a full list of deceased characters who weren't revived on the Red Star?

Sorry about that. I didn't realize how the reply system worked.

Buried.

1) No. I give a lot of thought before I kill off a character.

2) Unknown

3) Probably

4) Don't know. I don't do complete histories of alt. universes, I only determine what I need for story.

5) Doubtful. He's a shapeshifter, after all, and 1000 years had passed since he had looked like that.

6) Probably

7) I don't think so, no

8) See answer to #4

9) I can't see why they wouldn't, unless somebody knows a reason

10) No, but it is fairly easy to know. Anyone killed outside of the MU robot -- that would include on the surface of the Mata Nui island, on Voya Nui, on Mahri Nui -- will not go to the red star. You  have to die inside the robot to get to go.

Hey Greg, do you think the heartlights possessed by the Matoran and Toa could be linked to some sort of power plant in their bodies? (hence their behaviour-blinking/stuttering when the being is dying, bright when alive and healthy and dark when deceased)

Certainly possible.

1) Might have brought this up before: perhaps all MU beings have this "powerplant" in their bodies as a repository for their "life energy," kind of like a chakra figuratively speaking, or a heart literally speaking? (kind of like the fictional Sparks from Transformers)

2) Also, do you think that perhaps small amounts of this "life energy" can somehow be converted into Elemental Power by the Toa (With Elemental "reserves" being the amount of life energy that can be safely converted without harming the user)? 1) Again, certainly possible

2) See my answer a little earlier on the page about the source of EP. It's not something I am prepared to rule on.

Greg, I just have a couple of questions involving Bio and HF:

1.You said a while back you had plans for Takanuva with the great beings civil war. As I also recall Helryx stated that Takanuva would fear his destiny. Is it possible you had, at some point, plans for Takanuva to 'smash' Velika. I was wondering this because of how Takanuva would fear this (due to the fact Velika takes on the form of a matoran, whom he's sworn to predict, 'smashing' is against toa code, what he is pledged to follow, and Velika is a great being, one of the beings that created him). Aswell as the fact he was the first matoran, so he might have something that can resist great beings powers. Now I'm not asking you to canonise this, but did you ever have any plans for this?

2. If HF was discontinued, when would we find out and would we ever find out the mastermind of breakout and brain attack?

Ok, I have two questions:

1. Are the new 2015 Bionicle heroes still called Toa, or just Masters?

2. Are the Protectors the Turaga of the villages, or Matoran? Or is there even any separation between the two? Joking

Thanks for your time

1) I didn't have concrete plans. I drop hints like that in story to basically force myself to have something interesting happen.

2) With the exception of BIONICLE way back when, and maybe Ninjago (though those plans obviously changed), I don't think LEGO normally makes announcements when lines are ending. We simply stop putting out new sets. As for the second set of your questions, I don't know the answers to those questions either, and since I am not on the HF story team, I can't predict whether they will reveal them or how.
