Hey there! I asked some questions on BZPower which were jokingly answered by the BS01 staff for a prank a while back, but now that I can contact you directly here they are (along with some others):

Could a Makuta reabsorb the essence of a Kraata, and if they could, could they do it to maintain their essence if they were outside of a container? If so, could they potentially create a horcrux by siphoning off part of their essence, hiding it somewhere, and in case of an emergency (such as a serious injury or being near death) putting a lot of Kraata into it? Admittedly this is hypothetical, but it could have some interesting implications.

Do Matoran names have meaning beyond the individual they refer to (for example, does a name like "Vakama" mean something as a word)? If so, due to the similarity between their names and their respective prefixes (not to mention they were created and deemed important by the Great Beings), are the Toa Mata's names references to their elements (so that, for example, "Tahu" means "fire" or a poetic term relating to fire)?

There was an interesting debate recently on the pronunciation of prefixes such as "Xa" and "Xi." Would Matoran pronounce them as "Za" and "Zee" as is the case in English, as "Ksa" and "Ksee," or as something else?

For my final question, were there accents within the Matoran Universe? For example, would a Matoran from Metru Nui sound markedly different from one on the Southern Continent?

Your time is much appreciated! Smile

It is truly an honor, Mr. Farshtey.

Good Bye 'til my next post!

god bless!

1) No idea.

2) Well, since Universe doesn't exist anymore, I am not sure you have to worry that much about sticking to canon since there is no canon to stick to now.

3) For a short time, yes

4) It's hard to say -- quality, yes, but feel could be different depending on what direction LEGO Company wanted to take the property.

5) I never created any characters that got rejected.

Well, what if (thinking hypothetically) LEGO were to bring back Bionicle and consult you?

And @ 2.): I mean the 2010-2012 canon.Smile

Thanks, Greg (it's okay if I call you that, right?Thinking) for letting us chat with you on this topic.Thumbs up

1) Well, I would certainly love to be involved in a return of BIONICLE, but I think if I were to do it, it would need to be a reboot in some respect. You can't pick up where you left off, because there is too much backstory for new fans to learn. So I think you would need to at the least do a time jump into the future.

Is it just me, or do I seriously get the vibe GF is hating this topic? Joking I asked one question, I'm just going to ask another to keep it short.

Greg, I have been noticing that you refuse to answer questions about even part of The Shadowed One's name. I am not asking what it is, or even part of it, I am mereley asking if either you have a name for him you're not telling or you do not have any real name for him.

Oh, yes, there is a name for him. But as I told the folks on BZPower way back when, I am not releasing it for three reasons: 1) Everyone hated it when we named Teridax, 2) it robs him of some of his mystique, and 3) it really doesn't matter what his old name was, what matters is who he is now, and who he is now is TSO.

1) I do not believe so, no.

2) We identified the prefixes as referring to the elements, but not, I think, the Toa names, although my memory may be imperfect on this. We never explored the idea of what if anything Matoran names meant.

3) The former

4) I think it would be fun if they did

A few more questions! Thanks for answering! Wink

1. How well do you think the Cryoshell songs fit in with the overall feel of Bionicle?

2. Did you like the songs?

3. Theoretically, if Bionicle were to return with a jump to the future (To make it easier for new fans to get into it), would you explain the endings of Yesterday Quest and The Powers That Be?

Say Greg, so I was reading Collision Course, but I noticed an error: the heroes (or at least Breez and Rocka) were already in their Brain Attack form, before their first encounter with an evil brain. As the Brain Attack formes are made to counter the brains, this would actually make no sense. I'll explain: Breez has a circular saw and a sharp bow-staff, perfect for cutting weed like Ogrum. Bulk has a drill and a big round shield, perfect for drilling into a pile of rock like Bruizer, and to shield him from his punching fist. Rocka has a turning-blade shield, perfect for blocking Scarox's multiple arms. Surge has a jetpack and scouting drone, perfect for chasing Dragon Bolt. Evo has a spinning blade that can be used like a propellor to swim fast, perfect for chasing and attacking Aquagon.Nerd So why are the heroes already in their Brain Attack form, as they weren't even already brain-attacked?Confused

That's what I'm talking about Greg! Happy Thought you meant a complete kind of reboot thing, but I'm glad that you aknowledge that there is so many opportunities of stories to tell while still avoiding erasement of already established thing. Kind of like how The Legend of Korra only makes very subtle nods to it's precurssor Avatar: The Last Airbender Smile

You could both do prequels taking place log, long (I mean very long) ago, perhaps about the building og the MU, culminating in the establishment of failsafes and plans by the GBs and the establishment of many of the different factions. Or a story centering around Terry and his psychological evolution. Or ending with the Matoran Civil War, where, as many older fans know, Terry ended the war with violence. There's also the chance of going to another, new domed world, where spme GBs remain to rule. But continuing where you left off, at least as kind of a side thing could work as well, perhaps by just finishing up the remaining serials. The backstory don't need to be full known by new fans in my opinion. Giving some basic info, like it "happening after a great war that lasted a hundred thousands years" would be fine, and then making references as you go along. Perhaps people would be dithering about the war sine this is Spherus Magna, a world with its own historical heritagw, traditions etc. and the Turaga and village elders of SM would try to tsach them that remembering the past can help in the future. Vakama used to say that remembering such things, while also helping shape the unforseeable future, is very important Smile

I hope that we'll eventually hear about Tahu and company at some point. I wonder what happened in the Red Star...

Dear Greg,

Just a real short question here (I realize how tough it is when so many people ask questions about one's books Face palm). Here it is: Can a rahkshi of a specific element, let's say electricity, obsorb existing amounts of it's element, like a toa can?

Thanks, Paploo.

1. Do you think you will ever be able to continue the story?

2. What is your favorite element?

3. What's the connection between the red star and the lightning from the red star that hit the Toa Inika?

"New legends awake, but old lessons must be remembered. This is the way of the Bionicle." I think he said.
By the way, I was wondering, does the Quote Button not show up on an iPhone? It doesn't seem to on mine...

@3:  If that happens, the current stories should be finished first (or as a side story to the new story).  Also, if that does happen, I would hope that we wouldn't get ONLY new characters.  It would be nice to see Chiara, Orde, and Zaria in set form. Smile  Also, I would hope that the building system would be more technic based, not HF based. Wink
