How come the Matoran verb "Zya" is pronounced as "ZUH"? That does not really make any sense. Pretty much all Matoran words are pronounced phonetically, so it would make more sense if it was Zee-ah, unless it's a soft Y in which case it would be like the LUH sound in Ja-luh.

Basically, because we said so.

Hey Greg, In Bionicle 2: Legends of Metru Nui, during Vakama's fight with Makuta, how come Makuta didn't use some of the Kraata powers he had access to?

Well, if he had, the scriptwriters would have had to explain that he had these 42 powers, etc., for all the people watching the movie who weren't fans in 2003. Plus it would have required adding more effects shots, which they probably did not have the budget for.

Hey Greg,

My question is, in the 2004 storyline, where did the Toa live in Metru Nui?

Buried post

I would assume their own metru. Given how Makuta felt about them, I can't see them being given a formal HQ.

Is it possible for a Rahkshi to operate without a Kraata in its shell?

No

In the 2002 media, the bohrok were described as not truly living, as biomechanical. Evidently, at that point, the mu inhabitants weren't considered biomechanical. When was the decision made that the mu people weren't totally organic?

I thought the biomechanical thing was always planned? But if it weren't, my best guess is 2003, since that's where we saw official art of Matoran with muscles for the first time, in the Mask of Light movie.

Okay. I'd imagine, personally, that it was just because an English audience would have a bit of a hard time with the letter combination z-y-a since in English Y is mostly pronounced as the Y in cYcle. I like to think that it's because the BIONICLE story is supposed to be a translation of Matoran to English. Pronouncing zya as ZUH also doesn't really fit with most other Matoran word pronunciations. Kyry for example is KEE-ree. You must think it's silly for us fans to still try to make sense of everything in the old story at this point. Speaking of which, have you heard of the BZPower user Tolkien, who has created an actual usable, speakable Matoran language? He has a PhD in linguistics, so he really know what he's doing. It's amazing really, plus it fits very well with most of the canon.

It could be possesed by Matoro using his Kanohi Iden or by a Makuta, but then it wouldn't operate on its own but instead be controled by other consciousnesses (oh boy, that's a long word).

Question!

If draining all the moral light from a toa makes them shadow toa, would draining all the moral shadow make them a toa of light?

You know, you probably shouldn't reply to my post unless you were able to answer my question.

Uh, what?

*Insert blank look here*

That was a general question for Greg, how did you interpret that as me askign you...?

When I was checking my posts, I got the notification that someone replied to my post, that was when I noticed that you were the only one who commented after me at the time. BTW, did you click the "Reply" or "Quick Reply" button on my post on this page when you posted your question?

...Reply.

Lemme guess, you use the reply notifier thing and the quick reply doesn't notify you, so I should use it instead?

Okay, do what you want. but I would recommend using the "reply" button on the top left next to the "Topic Options" button for posting in general as opposed to replying to a specific person.

Oh. Didn't know that was a thing. Thanks.

A Makuta, quite probably, but I don't think an Iden user. I am pretty sure you cannot use an Iden to possess an inanimate object. Rahkshi are not built to be run by AI the way Toa, Matoran, etc. are, so a possessing AI would have nothing to work with.

Hey, Mr. Farshtey! I just bought one of your books a little while ago and LOVED it! It was creative and I just read it over and over again! Im begging you, please write some graphic novels for the new season of Ninjago. Thank you for putting time into every single one of your amazing books! BTW, are you the one who came up with Ninjago?! AMAZING! Ninjago is one of my favorite LEGO themes!

From BS01, "While released, their spirit can move at great speeds and inhabit other living, spiritless bodies or self-powered robots." But like you said the Rahkshi was probably built to be controlled by Kraata. In fact, would it be safe to assume that the Kraata even power them, which would make it impossible for a wearer of an Iden to possess it.

Its a pleasure to chat with you Greg. My name is Noah and I've been a Bionicle fan since I was a toddler. I did have a few questions concerning Bionicle that I'd might ask: 1). Do you know if the original 4 Bionicles films would ever be released on Blu-ray? I loved them so much as a small child and still enjoy them to this day; and I can't imagine how amazing they'd be in high-definition. 2). Do you think Bionicle would ever become a major cinematic blockbuster such as The LEGO Movie? That would be extraordinary! I appreciate you allowing us fans to chat with you; it means so much! I thank you for all the work you've done on Bionicle. It changed my childhood forever! Thumbs upWink

why do you use a really big letter at the beginning of every chapter?

I don't. The publisher sets the type for the book, not the writer, so that is something they decide to do.

1) I'm not aware of any plans for that. Since they have no connection to the new BIONICLE, I don't think LEGO would want that too much. They don't want to distract from new story.

2) No idea.
