Hi Greg, thanks for doing this thread! I've had a few questions about the original run of BIONICLE that have been nagging me for quite some time but I didn't realize this thread was still ongoing!

  1. What do the Toa Nuva look like on Spherus Magna? I know they adapted for the desert on Bara Magna, but SM is pretty much Mata Nui at this point. Do they look like their original Nuva forms or are they closer to Stars Tahu or their 2008 models?
  2. Speaking of the Stars line, are they actually as tall as their original sets or is there a canon explanation for their sudden shortness?
  3. What does the Mask of Creation look like? Is it like its G2 counterpart or another mask or something else entirely?
  4. Does Mata Nui use a sword or a Thornax Launcher in the canon? I don't recall any use of the launcher but it is included in the main set while the movie sword is not. (But I'm assuming the movie is canon.)
  5. Do Takanuva and Jaller really interact much after the beginning of 2006? How does he feel about his friend becoming a Toa like him?
  6. Where was the Ignika kept after Teridax's death? I'm assuming they kept it somewhere safe with Mata Nui's spirit inside of it, but I wouldn't know where.

Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions!

Hello Mr. Farshtey,

Just curious, did you ever have any interaction with Cryoshell?

Do you know if any of their songs BIONICLE used were designed directly for that specific story arc (say, Gravity Hurts)?

Thanks for taking the time to read our questions! Smile

No idea. I never dealt with any of that, wasn't my area.

2) Okay. But I still think the fact that someone (Velika?) or something have slightly changed Mata Nui's mind, allowing him to accept and deal with the consequences of the Awakening, is needed, here :/

3) I have surely over-interpreted, but it's a fact that Mata Nui is the one who attribute destinies to all MUians, if I'm not mistaken. That lets me think he still had to take a final look to MUians in conception, in order to attribute those destinies.

Well, besides those questions and discussions about complex aspects of the BIONICLE universe (which makes me feel myself like an overzealous fan toward you at some times ^^"), I would like to point out the respect and the sympathy I have for your works and yourself, Mr.Farshtey.
BIONICLE was and always stays an amazing universe of fiction (moreover, my favorite, in front of many others), which allowed me to build up myself during my childhood, my adolescence and even today.
Your works on BIONICLE have made this universe even more original and deeper. Thank you a lot for that.

2) Well, you're entitled to think whatever you want Smile

3) Actually, it's never been stated that Mata Nui is consciously stopping and bestowing a destiny on every Matoran. The Matoran believed he did that, but they also believed he was Great Spirit and not a giant robot. He MAY have been doing this, or it may have been something was being done automatically in their manufacture.

LEGO has linked a lot of themes together through comics, TV shows, and movies. Could you please tell me whih themes are ACTUALLY in the same universe/multiverse? (E.G. When Eris appeared in NEXO Knights or what are the other realms in Ninjago?)

Not officially, no. But it's something we play around with a lot because we know that is how a lot of LEGO fans play with their sets.

1.  It's Velika who proposed to the others Great Beings to create the Baterra during the core war?

2.  According to Makuta's guide to the universe, The island of Mata Nui is the same size as our islands. This does not make much sense because Mata Nui is a little smaller than the planet earth diameter and the island is supposed to cover his face. So, The information was wrong? If no, The island could only cover a small part of his face.

3.  How Mata Nui created the Skakdi and the Vortix? from raw material? or from nothing? And Mata Nui could he create new species outside its world (Outside of him)?

4.  Who created the Rahi who have built the silver city in the pocket dimension? The Makuta? It would be a possibility in my opinion, because they had a Kanohi Olmak. My theory is that, after the Makuta have created these Rahi they realized that these Rahi were too intelligent and they decided to put them in a pocket dimension with the Olmak.

5.  I do not know if I've already asked you this question, Who or what has placed the Kestora in the pocket dimension of the silver city? Is this the Great Beings who have placed them in this dimension? or something else?

6.  When the Shadowed One has shot Teridax with his disintegrators beam, That did not disintegrate Teridax why? Is it because its power is less effective with the Protosteel or the Makuta have a resistance to the power of disintegration?

We know Matoran are manafactured. Are other non-rahi species(Skakdi, Vortixx, Etc.) manafactured in a similar manner, or do they come in to existence in some other way?

2) What happened to the Element Lords after leaving of Tarduk's squad? Did they kill each other?
3) How the Matoran naming system is working? Are there something like the database of existing names? Or "system" creates the names itself using various parts of the words?
4) How often do you read BS01?
5) Will the all Xian weapons be used on Spherus Magna? And what happened to Judgement Cannon after all? Will it be used?
6) Can you grow Knowledge Tower via Knowledge Crystals on Spherus Magna?
7) What Angonce thinks about the new society of Spherus Magna? Does he support it? Or is he on Velika's side?
8) What is the minimum and maximum temperature that Toa of Ice and Fire can control?
9) Did the Matoran bring all items(such as Book of Chronicles, Bamboo Disks, Air Bladders, Flax, Riggings, etc.) from Mata Nui to Metru Nui(and then to Spherus Magna)?
10) Were the Matoran creating the masks after Kanohi Nuva forms? I mean were there any Matoran that wore powerless masks ressembling Kanohi Nuva forms?
11) Was Tren Krom created after Annona? Since GBs did not remember her at all, but her image was to be deposited in their subconscious?
12) Can the Element Lord of Sand control crystals, since sand is made of tiny crystal fragments?
13) Can you use Ice and Shadow together to achieve Absolute Zero?
14) Can it be possible that telepathic voice that told Matoro to put on the Ignika belonged to Velika? In The Kingdom Alternate Universe, that Great Being never went into exile, and Velika was just a Matoran. As a result, the voice never instructed Matoro to act, which led to Mata Nui's permanent death.
15) What happened to the Toa of Plasma who was attacked by Zaktan? All that is left of him was puddle of strange substance, but it was never confirmed he died. So?

Can a Makuta think in a stasis pod?

Thanks,

1) Not to my knowledge, no

2) Your point is well taken, but remember, that book was written when we still had to keep Mata Nui's true nature a secret. If we said the island of Mata Nui is impossibly huge, that would have been a dead giveaway.

3) Same way he created the Makuta, I would assume, only with protodermis instead of antidermis. And no, he would not have had the capacity to design beings to live outside the robot, because none of the beings inside were intended to live outside.

4) Don't assume a pocket dimension follows the same rules as the main dimension. They are not alternate timelines, but they are offshoots of the main reality and follow their own rules. There is no evidence Makuta exist in that pocket dimension or ever have. It is entirely possible that bio-mechanical life is the normal form of life there and comes about naturally.

5) No one did. They came to be naturally in that reality.

6) Well, we know Teridax has all 42 Rahkshi powers and one of those is limited invulnerability. The "limit" on that so far as we know is light. So disintegrator beams like that may have just been something Makuta are largely invulnerable to.

Any being within the MU is manufactured in some way, whether it is through the use of viruses like Rahi or in a more straightforward manner like Matoran. They are all constructs.

If your species is capable of dreaming, then it can be possible to dream while in stasis. Conscious thought is normally not possible.

Hello Mr. Farshtey,

I'm curious,

The planned 2010 movie was going to eventually result in Mata Nui arriving in Bota Magna.

I'm not sure if I've got continuity right, but, if this movie happened, by the time Mata Nui arrived in Bota Magna, would this be around Chapter 11 of Reign of Shadows, when Lewa Nuva and the others were trapped there with the Great Being?

Or was this written at the point of "all hands on deck, we're ending BIONICLE?"

Could we speculate that Lewa was there?

Good day, Mr. Farshtey - I'm huge fan of your work with the LEGO company. mainly of your work on Bionicle....I had one question to ask - so..here it is : Do characters such as Toa or Matoran have distinctive facial features under their mask?
