OnionShark | 2017-02-03 14:02 UTC–5 PermalinkI found a contradiction on those two Glatorian bodies found in Dwellers In Darkness in two sets of quotes of yours. Note that I replaced a certain verb because according to the mods, I can't use it on the boards. Funnily enough, the quotes in wich I replaced them were posts on this thread These are from 2009: “Q) Will we find out why there were the dead bodies inside of Mata Nui’s head at the end of this story arc,[...]? A) I can tell you why now. They were intended to be pilots, and they died in the Great Cataclysm.” Follow up: “Q) [...] Could you please elaborate on their role? A) They were there in case something went wrong. If there was damage to Mata Nui’s systems, there would need to be a manual takeover. Unfortunately, the damage was so pervasive and so fast that they couldn’t stop its progression and they died in the crash.” But they were contradicted by these in 2014: “Q) In Dwellers In Darkness when the Toa Hagah, Miserix, and Zaktan are inside Mata Nui’s brain, they find two corpses [...] Were they Glatorians? If so why were they there? A) Yes. They were the pilots for the initial launch and were supposed to eject at a certain point, but things didn’t work out that way.” Follow up: “Q) I’m assuming [they died because of] the great cataclysm? A) I actually think they died long before then. Their job was just to get the robot in the air and pointed in the right direction, to be simplistic about it, not to pilot it through the entire mission.” Follow up: “Q) So what went wrong? Why didnt they eject? A) Well, we have to figure on one of two reasons: 1) The eject mechanism failed, or... 2) Something disabled to [caused their deaths] them before they got a chance to use it. I would vote for #2, myself.” Wich set of quotes has the correct facts? I imagine the first one takes precedence, but I just wanted to be sure. Also, if the second set is the right one, who or what caused their deaths? |
OnionShark | 2017-02-03 14:03 UTC–5 PermalinkThese should be part 1 of 2 of the last questions I have for you, though I have the feeling that just as I'll click on “post” I’m gonna think about another thousand of them =P 1) You once suggested that maybe the reason Vakama didn’t know his mask power despite being a Mask Maker might have been because it was a Kanohi acquired in trade wich was not Metru Nui-styled. In fact, the Metru are the only Metru Nui Matoran shown in visual media having great-shaped versions of their Kanohi. So, what if the reason that Vakama didn’t know his mask power and those of his brothers was that all of them were acquired in trade and were not in the usual style of Metru Nui? Are you fine with this being the official explanation? 2) You said that the GBs came from different tribes. Can we say that at least one Glatorian from each tribe that was still active when they started ruling SM was a GB? Excluding the Rock Tribe because they didn’t have Glatorian species members. 3) Velika would punish the Earth Tribe if he took over SM, right? 4) If Q3 is correct, when you say that Velika might want to recruit the ELs as lieutenants, that does not include the ELoE, right? 5) You once said that part of Velika’s plan involved the zombified MU inhabitants on the RS, (page 775, post 3) could you elaborate on that? 6) From one of your recent answers, it seems that Annona has no gender, and that people can see “her” both as male and female. This seems to contradict some of your earlier answers, in wich you said that Annona was in fact female. So, for clarification, is “she” genderless or female? 7) Did Mata Nui ever observe a specimen of Annona’s species during his travels? 8) Just for confirmation, was the Fire Entity made with viruses and protodermis, and does it have at least some biomechanical componenents? |
been605 | 2017-02-03 14:17 UTC–5 PermalinkJust a few questions I need to ask before the forums shut down.
1. What was the ratio of Krana to Bohrok? I mean, there was definitely more Krana than Bohrok, but how many more? My guess is 8 krana for every one Bohrok, but that's just a guess. 2. A while ago, I asked about Takanuva's ressurection at the end of Mask of Light. At the time you had no answer and turned to the fans for help, in a manner similar to a 'Marvel No-Prize'. Did we ever get an answer on that? 3.
4. During 2006, you used a Jaller prototype as a basis for his in-fiction appearance. Said prototype had two Energized Flame Swords, so my question is, how did it hold both the swords and a Zamor Launcher? 5. On a similar note to question 4, how did the Nuparu prototype you used in 2007 hold his shield, Aqua Blaster Blade, and a Cordak Blaster?
Thank you for your time spent answering all these questions, as well as all you have written. You have crafted the childhood of many a LEGO fanatic. To be honest, I don't think G1 of Bionicle would have lasted as long without you. But you know what they say, it never truly ends. |

I think we can acknowledge that the visual depiction of the toa metru as matoran only had their toa-shaped masks for animation and budgeting reasons (similar to how none of the characters are shown without a mask, even when they're not wearing one). As seen with all the other matoran on metru nui/mata nui, the metru kanohi were only worn by matoran in noble shape. The only time we see the toa metru in matoran form is in the movie, so I would surmise that they didn't know their mask powers because 1. they had unfamiliar shapes, and 2. they didn't really know much about using kanohi, apart from vakama. |
been605 | 2017-02-03 19:50 UTC–5 PermalinkForget to type out question 3. Oops.
Ahem.
3. Could a Kanohi Mohtrek user carve a message onto the armor of their past self? Would that create a new timeline? |
solaris1144 | 2017-02-03 23:22 UTC–5 PermalinkGreg I asked this before but I need some closure before the forums go down under.
Velika murdered Tren Krom and Karzahni. He planned to murder "Axonn, Brutaka and Toa Helryx, veteran warriors; Makuta Miserix, with all the power that title implied; Artakha, wearer of the Mask of Creation; Toa Tuyet, who was mightier than any of the others knew; and Vezon, gifted with the ability to move through dimensions the way others move through air. So many beings of power, all in one spot … it was quite delicious." too. He had the the Toa Mata in his sights but "were too important to have their lives sacrificed needlessly. Oh, they would die, eventually, but it would be at a time of his choosing." I know you don't plan your serials and just write as they go along, but, what other objectives of power could've Velika had in his mind? Who else was powerful enough to kill? And did he include beings from Bara Magna/Bota Magna too? If so, I can see the Element Lords being objectives. Takanuva too

Or -- we could simply retcon that notion: and declare it non-canon, and pretend the Toa metru immediately knew how to use their mask powers -- as any other Toa team should. |

Sorry Sir, but you said and confirmed that the BG fortress was defended from the shockwaves and from that power too. So Brutaka wasn't affected and cured. |
maletoaofwater | 2017-02-04 17:53 UTC–5 PermalinkOn marrendar - we don't know much about him/it, other than the fact that it was made to hunt toa. We also know that inside the matoran universe, the rahi nui was made to do the same. Can we assume that they had similar powers? (mainly resistance to elemental powers, i suppose). |
maletoaofwater | 2017-02-04 17:57 UTC–5 PermalinkA quick addendum to my last question about marrendar - if it's resistant to elemental powers, would it use those powers used against it to grow, just like the rahi nui as well? (in my opinion, it makes sense, since they were created for the same purpose)
thank you!
p.s. I'm an editor on bs01 - hopefully we'll be able to put some sort of age varification system in place so you could still talk to us over there! |

Actually, GregF stated the GB fortress "firewall" blocked transmissions as MN's language upload. But nothing was said about the capability of Ignika's "lifewaves" to get through this shield. |
Wilmerkardell | 2017-02-05 15:43 UTC–5 Permalink1. Is the Avohkii made of Protosteel? 3. Would a 'normal' Kraahkan/Avohkii allow the user to sense the moral darkness/light of a being? 4. Can Makuta use noble masks? 5. A Toa disk would always make a mask of respective element, right? Say, Toa disk of Gravity makes a Garai, a Toa disk of Psionics would make a Kanohi mask of Psionics and a Toa disk of Fire would make a Kanohi mask of Fire etc.
By normal, I mean one made from a potential Toa disk (even though Toa disks of Shadow don't exist).
