I am sure there are people who would agree with you, too. I think it would be a bigger issue if Pythor was a hero - -he's basically a monster. I think the other reason you  have not seen a storm of protest is he's not a human character ... after all, there are animals in nature who eat their young, or eat other adult members of their species. So that may have been why there haven't been waves of outrage about "humanoid snake monster eating other humanoid snake monsters," or maybe not a lot of people have bothered to read his bio.

Actually one of my younger brothers was looking over my shoulder(I hate it when he does that) and the first thing he said when he saw the post was:  "Eww!  They put cannibalism in a kids show!  Thats wrong!"  And thats exactly what he said.

And yet many litttle kids are read Hansel and Gretel (cannibalistic witch) and Jack and the Beanstalk (cannibalistic giant) when they are small, and survive. And Pythor is never shown eating anyone in the show, nor is it ever explicitly stated in the show that he did. For that matter, any kid with an interest in animals knows that there are species that eat their young.

I am  not arguing FOR this plot point, simply pointing out that the notion kids have not been exposed to this already is probably not accurate. And the only way a kid will be exposed to it in Ninjago if he a) goes to the website, b) goes to the character section, and c) reads up on Pythor, who is not an enormously relevant character right now.

Actually it is shown that pythor ate a guy in episode 8(the guy he ate talked while in his stomach).

Okay, but given all that -- and that you had already read the description on the website -- not sure why you asked me about this in the first place. You already had your answer about what happened to his clan from the Ninjago site.

I hate to be a bother, but where is Pythor's character page on the Ninjago website? I can't find it.

No idea. It does not state why in the story bible.

But it says he ate them on his bio on the ninjago site.  So do you think that LEGO having a cannibalistic character is wrong?

It's not my place to say what is or isn't "wrong" - that is up to the opinions of the fans.

I would say its wrong to have a cannibalistic character in a kid frendly franchise.

Not many people at all are bothered by it as Greg has said, he's supossed to be an evil monster, therefore will do evil things.

Hello Greg,

I have quite a few questions to ask you. These questions are regarding your job as an author for a class project.

Think of it as an Interview.

What are several of your normal job duties?

What values are important for your career?

Do you deal with data, people,or things?

What is your work Environment like?

What sort of education and training is needed  to enter in your career area?

What benefits do workers in your field receive?

How many workers are needed in your career area at the time, nationwide and internationally?

Do you think the demand for workers like you will increase or decline in five years? why?

Can a matoran or other MU inhabitant die of old age?

Thanks again. Smile

Jay and Kopaka

One more I just thought of it. Did you make up every Bionicle?

No. I didn't create BIONICLE, it had already been created when I came to work at LEGO in 2000. Most of the BIONICLE characters were created by the story team, which I was a part of. There were only a few characters -- Mavrah, Karzahni, a few others - that were created just by me.

This is very interesting - do you think you could tell us the rest of the characters that you yourself created?

After all this time, I doubt I would remember them, Firox. BIONICLE was a lot of years ago at this point.

That's understandable - thank you anyway. Smile It's cool to know that Mavrah and Karzahni were your ideas...

I am going to answer your questions in terms of my day job as Editorial Director, because most of them don't apply to  my side job of being an author:

1) I brainstorm concepts, edit text for print and online, write comics and articles, and work on special projects like in-school magazines.

2) Creativity and imagination and respect for the LEGO audience

3) I work with people, I also work with research data a lot

4) I work in a big open area with other writers and graphic designers. Tends to be kind of noisy.

5) I don't know that there are special benefits in my field. There are special benefits to working for LEGO Company, but in general, publishing is not a field with a lot of special benefits in it.

6) No idea.

7) I think it will  probably increase, simply because with the web and things like Netflix, the demand for original content just keeps growing. Someone has to write it and someone has to edit it.

Yes, the same way a machine can break down with time. But the natural lifespan of an MU inhabitant is really long.
