They are pre-programmed with it. Matoran need to get to work right away, they are created when there is a job need. There's no time for them to attend primary school.

Instead, they use the copper-based hemocyanin, thus explaining its blue color. In fact, Tuma's blood in the TLR movie was blue. I think having blue is cool, because it would reinforce the alien nature of the SM inhabitants. 

 

3) Finally, are Glatorian/Agori mammalian/close to mammalian ?

1) No idea. As I have said, were it up to me we would not pick up the story from where we left off, so they might not be in the story at all.

2) No idea. Not something I have worried about.

Kopaka was my favorite. Lewa was the hardest to write for, because of the treespeak.

2) Remember that they were transported to Mata Nui in pods and woke up with no memory of Metru Nui. They didn't remember being in that universe.
