1. What happened to the mind/soul/memories of the Av-Matoran that transformed into a Bohrok.

2. Did the Bionicle story was given so much brainstorming that you had the complete plotline years before it officialy ended ?

2.2 Were there times when you had to come with some ideas for the story in a spot ?

3. About the Bionicle Reboot. Are you maybe aware if the masks will be compatibile with the old Bionicle parts ?

4. As a main pillar of the Bionicle deveopment do you have a collection of Bionicle sets? Smile

1) They are basically overwritten by the Bohrok's programming

2) The original head of the story team, Bob Thompson, had what he called the "seven books of BIONICLE" in his head. So basically 2001-2004 came from that. 2005 came about because a decision was made that we had to do Metru Nui for a second year, and after that, Bob was gone and we were brainstorming more on a year by year basis.

2.2 Not for full year story. Sometimes for stuff in the middle.

3) No idea

4)  I have some, down in the basement

Thank you very much for your reply and for answering so fast. Your replies are very eye opening Smile

Unfortunately your answers gave me more questions, but not much. So if you could answer my last few questions I would appreciate it very much.

1. Great Beings
They seem to only build, experiment and test. I have an impression they don't really care for the consequences or moral side of their doing nor how they iresponsibly play with life, organic or inorganic.

- How would you describe their personality as scientists ?

2. Collection

I was hoping you will have some sets in your possesion Happy

- Which is your favourite ?

3. Passion or work

This question might be a bit too personal so I understand if you wish not to answer to it.

You worked on Bionicle for many years, literary shaping a small universe. Now a reboot comes and as far as I know you are not involved in its development.

- Was your approach to Bionicle 100% professional or have you linked emotionally to that work ?

Hi Greg! I've thought of some questions

1. Would a growth Kanoka enlarge a Gadunka or does it work differently?

2. Can non-canon material like BIONICLE Heroes be considered alternate universes?

3. Speaking of which, did you not like the liberties they took with that game, story-wise?

4. Were there any liberties in multimedia material you weren't happy with?

5. If you were to choose two other characters in place of the two 2009 Bionicle Stars (since they were from the last year and those characters could still be shown in the comics), who would they be?

Thanks in advance if you could answer these!

If I recall correctly, Krahka could shapeshift into anything she had seen. So she could mutate into different forms if she had seen those forms. If not, she couldn't

1) I see them as a lot like Colin Clive in the original Frankenstein movie. They do things because they can, or to find out if they can, without worrying all that much about consequences.

2) I don't really have a favorite.

3) Any writer who works on something for an extended period of time is going to get emotionally attached. Back when I wrote my first novel, in 1992, I wrote the ending in one 8-hour marathon, because I knew I was going to feel bad saying goodbye to those characters. Between 2003 and 2010, I was writing BIONICLE pretty much every day, so yes, I did get attached to that universe.

Not in any way we have seen. It may well be causing internal changes to their DNA which won't become apparent for generations to come.

This is a very interesting discussion. I really appreciate the time you've taken to answer these questions, Mr Farshtey. I just have a few questions for you.

1) You've said you have nothing to do with the new line of BIONICLE, yet the story is going to be told through books. Since you are not connected with BIONICLE 2015, who will be writing the books?

2) What would you say is the most interesting story aspect of BIONICLE?

1) To my knowledge, a writer or writers has not been selected yet.

2) Old BIONICLE or new BIONICLE?

1. Asking this again for direct confirmation: did any or all of the following list of beings (Hafu, Kapura, Artakha, Axonn, Brutaka, Helryx, Tuyet, Miserix, and Vezon) escape the Great Being's fortress before Velika could kill them?

The following questions assume that these beings did escape; if they did not, feel free to disregard these entirely.

2. How did they escape? Did they use the teleportation powers of Artakha, Brutaka, Miserix, Vezon (which would have required the cursed GB's help), or Kapura? Or did they escape some other way?

3. Did Velika destroy the fortress? Is he aware that he did not succeed in killing his targets?

4. You stated that the cursed Great Being escaped, but that "the heroes" didn't know about it. Did he escape with the company of Tuyet, Miserix, or Vezon (the villains)? Who freed him from his chains?

Thank you for your time.

I can't really answer these because the actual story was never written. It was easy enough to state who escaped, because I never intended to kill all those characters at one time.

I have a follow-up question to this answer you posted a few weeks ago:

ScribeGT6817 wrote:

Zidonaro wrote:

1 - Is Dume native from Metru Nui ?
1.5 - And Lhikan ?

1) Yes and yes

Dume being from Metru Nui is fine by me, but I think that Lhikan being a native Metruan contradicts previously established canon. I looked up some of the official sources in which Lhikan appears, and Birth of a Dark Hunter states that Metru Nui was his "adopted home", and according to the BIONICLE Encyclopedia, "he first came to Metru Nui 4,000 years ago along with 10 other Toa".

So, could you clear up which version is canon?

If the answer violates pre-established canon, then go with pre-established canon.

Hi Greg, it appears this question got buried while you were under the weather:

Thormmen wrote:
Hi Greg,

There's another discussion BZP, this time about the Nui Stone and how it can't turn a Toa into a Turaga. You were asked earlier whether a Toa who was drained of all his/her Toa Energy by the Nui Stone would turn into a Turaga. You said no, since a Toa first has to fulfill his/her destiny and also has to CHOOSE to give up his/her Toa Energy, instead of having it forcefully taken from him/her. We were wondering how that works out with Toa who have already completed their destiny. If a Toa who already completed his/her destiny were to be locked up for a long period of time in the vicinity of an activated Nui Stone, long enough for the Nui Stone to completely drain the Toa of Toa Energy, what would happen? We saw these possibilities:

1) The Toa would be left with zero Toa Energy but remain a Toa. Since he/she never gave up any of his/her Toa Energy willingly, and will never be able to do so again because he/she is "empty", he/she will never be able to turn into a Turaga.
2) The Toa would be left with a miniscule amount of Toa Energy, some tiny last bit that even the Nui Stone couldn't drain. The Toa could later give this bit of Toa Energy up to become a Turaga.
3) The Toa would be left with zero Toa Energy and remain a Toa, but the Toa could still mentally develop further and come to a point in his/her life where he/she would say "If I would have had the choice, I would have given up my Toa Energy now. It was drained before I was ready to become a Turaga, but now I am ready to become a Turaga." and this change of the Toa's mental state and attitude towards life could trigger his/her transformation into a Turaga.
4) The Toa would be left with zero Toa Energy and turn into a Turaga. This however contradicts what you said earlier about Toa having to CHOOSE to give up their Toa Energy.

Which, if any, of these options is the correct one?

Many thanks!

Well I never! The Great Greg himself!

O wise one, may I be humbled in your presence, may I ask you but one (okay, two, but bear with me I'm humbling myself here) simple question? Will you accompany us as we chronicle the stories of Okoto? Or in other words, how much involvement are you going to have in the new 2015 series?

Ooh, and if it doesn't spoil too much, will we see societies, animals/rahi and villages in Okoto? We've seen the terrain aspects of the world-building, (and my, it's still beautiful), but what will we get from the creatures of the mystical island?

If none of it is forbidden knowledge that will make you go insane the same way Tren Krom does, may you enlighten us with your eternal knowledge?
