Thanks, but you forgot to answer my questions about the old story line.Wink I will re-state them, with 1 more

  1. I was watching Bionicle 2: Legends of Metru Nui, and notised something: when Nidhiki calls Lhikan "brother" in the begining of the movie, and Lhikan says "You lost the right to call me brother a long time ago!" I got me thinking, was Nidhiki a toa on Lhikan's team once? and if so, is there a toa code or set of rules that when broken the toa who broke them becomes a dark hunter?
  2. In the first two bionicle movies, Makuta refered to Mata Nui as his Brother, yet how can that be seeing as he is the leader of a species of Shadow Creatures in antidermis shells, and Mata Nui is the "Great Spirit"?

Thaks!Smile

P.S. Too bad you have nothing to do witht he new Bionicle, your work with it put you next to J.R.R. Tolkine in story writing, and that's a lot!Thumbs up

P.P.S. And I did watch the video, I was asking that in relation to the old Makuta, but since you have nothing to do with the reboot, sorry to bother you.Wink

Two rather trivial questions today.

1. Is the Kanohi Jutlin made from Weaken disks? (As suggested by a member on BZP.)

2. In Tales of the Masks, the first BIONICLE book you ever wrote, Onua Nuva and Turaga Whenua encounter a large, pale, tentacled worm Rahi deep in Onu-Wahi. In Challenge of the Hordika, Krahka assumes the form of a large, pale, tentacled worm Rahi to fight Roodaka. Was Krahka mimicking the species encountered by Onua and Whenua?

Thank you for your time.

Hi Greg, I have a couple questions about the backstory of the Dark Hunter codenamed Prototype.

In his biography on BS01 (and presumably also in the Dark Hunter book, but I don't own it), it says that he was once a Toa of Earth and a Toa of Fire, who were stumbled upon by another Dark Hunter. At the time, said Dark Hunter was looking for beings to test the Spear of Fusion on, so when the two Toa combined themselves, he took the opportunity to then fuse the two Toa together permanently using the spear. So...

1) According to BS01, any amount of Toa can enter a fusion, as long as that amount is MORE than two. This would mean that the two Toa could not have naturally formed this fusion unless one of them used the Mask of Fusion (one of the masks that you canonized a while back) to form it. Can you confirm that this was the case?

2) Why did at least one of the two Toa choose to combine at that moment? Was it because they saw the unknown Dark Hunter approach them, and decided that they would have a better chance at fighting him or her off if they were fused together?

Thanks again for your time Smile

2 - Was Vakama's visions something given to his programming during his creation ?

3 - There's already a mask of Gravity, Shadows and Light. It is safe to assume that a Mask of the others elements exist as well ?

3.5 - How would a mask of water work ?

4 - How Nocturn was killed ?

5 - Is Hydraxon "Mask" his face or a Helmet ?

Thanks

1) I think their shapes would have been somewhat different

2) Don't know. The source of Vakama's visions was never explained to the rest of the story team by Bob Thompson

3) Certainly the potential exists for such masks

3.5) Um, you would control water with it

4) He was killed during an escape attempt. The details on exactly how were never outlined.

5) I don't think that is his face, no

1) Then why Jovan and Tobduk wear what appears to be organic versions of the Kadin and Sanok ?

5) Then it can be a powerless mask that we never saw before and there's no information ? Could you make this canon ?

Now for the new plot questions:

  1. Are you writig the story line this time?
  2. why arn't you writing the books this time?
  3. what's all this about Makuta being the brother of Ekimu, and them being mask makers?
  4. And Makuta being evil because he put on a mask with too much power? what's wrong with the complex specise of Makuta, who deside they could take over after defeting a rebelion, and then having the leder take on the specise name?
  5. And why are the villagers called defenders? Matoran and Agori are cooler names.
  6. the new storyline sounds sort of simplistic, will it get more complicared later on?

Please do not get me wrong, I'm not complaining or trying to insult, there only questions, and if for confadential reasons you can't answer some of my questions, I'm ok with that.Wink

Hm. I was super excited to learn about the new Bionicle, but it just decreased. YOU are a huge part of my heart for Bionicle. The books, the comics, and everything else is SO amazing, and the SWEET story left us hanging. We NEED it finished. A reboot? Bummer.

Is there a chance anything, even your involvement, could change?

TimmyChip, I love your "P.S." statement and how you relate Farshtey to Tolkien! The worlds and stories created are so AMAZING and so in-depth! I am a HUGE fan of both authors and their creations. And then the Bionicle story just stopped abruptly...

Mr. Farshtey, is there any chance you could finish it on the side, seperate from this new series (unfortunately a reboot and not a continuation)? I am so sad and dissapointed the classic sets and stories ended. Crying

This isn't really the place to discuss my personal feelings.

I don't see why not. This thread is called "Chat with Greg Farshtey". So I suppose we should be able to chat with you, and I would assume that includes your personal feelings, if you chose to do so. Otherwise, this topic should be renamed to "Ask Greg Farshtey Factal Questions" or something of that sort.

Boidoh, an employee of the company could get get in trouble for speaking ill against the company. It's a matter of upholding the reputation of his company.

So before you ask Greg questions that involve how he feels, ask yourself if it's the right thing to say. Mr. Farshtey is an incredibly gifted man, and LEGO needs to keep him involved in their stories as long as possible.

Oh, and if the new Bionicle team wants to know if Greg Farshtey is a good choice to add to the new Bionicle story team, I would give a wholehearted HECK YEAH BABY.Thumbs up

There was a cancelled PC game that was meant to be canon called BIONICLE: The Legend of Mata Nui. In that game, there was a rahi called the Fikou-Nui. If you look it up, you can see that it is a larger version of the Fikou... very larger.

So I was wondering. Where did this rahi come from? It is on the island of Mata Nui in the game. I believe it is in Onu-Wahi. Was it created as a lone rahi, the only one of it's kind. Is it a sub-species of the Fikou, or just a "close relative"?  Was it an escapee from the archives that made its way to Mata Nui? So many questions, probably little answers...

Hmmm. The only BIONICLE PC game I can recall being cancelled was from 2001. Anyway, unfortunately, you have sort of answered your own question -- cancelled PC game that was going to be canon equals stuff that did not become canon. So no info exists on this. The person who was working on the game on the LEGO end hasn't even worked here since 2005.

Can you make the Fikou-Nui a canon rahi? It doesn't really affect any pre-established canon. We have a couple pictures of it. And it is awesome... And I just really like Fikou!

Sure, fine by me.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU!

Now I can make a MOC of the Fikou-Nui without worrying that the rahi is non-canon!

Is this a sub-species of the Fikou? I was wondering if there should be an entire new page for it on BS01, or just shoved into some spot on the Fikou page.

Is this one rahi, or many?

Was it on the island of Mata Nui?

Again, thanks!

Reposting buried questions from earlier (couldn't figure out how to quote it so ill just copy and past them)

I have a few questions regarding Bionicle

1. Does the Mask of Creation that Ekimu wears look exactly like the one Artakha wears?

2. If a Matoran on Voya Nui transformed into a Toa while they still believed the Piraka were Toa, would he end up looking like a Skakdi or a strange Toa/Skakdi hybrid -ish thing?

3. Is there a Mask of Control or a counterpart of it in the Gen1 universe?

3b. If so, would it look exactly the same as the one in the Gen2 universe?

4. Why didnt Teridax kill the Turaga during his takeover?

5. Does Voporak still possess the Mask of Time

1) How the one Artakha wore looked was never described in story, so no way to answer this.

2) Probably the former

3) A Mask of Control of what?

3b)) I really can't speak to how things would look in Gen2, since I am not involved with it

4) In what way were the Turaga a threat to him worth killing?

5) Yes

1. It was in Teridax's Reign. I shall quote it.

"His mask was the most ornate anyone had ever seen – more than just a Kanohi, it was a true work of art. The metallic protodermis from which it was forged was arranged in intricate patterns and designs, each reflecting one of the many cultures that flourished in the universe. The eye slits were angular and pointed, giving him an air of both wisdom and a vague sense of menace."
— Narrator, Reign of Shadows

2. What... With spines, big teeth... everything?

3. Oh, it is a Gen 2 thing... Seen in the trailer we got at NYCC.

4. Information

I would assume he kept it as a weapon. The name thing just got decided a week or so ago, I see no point in now trying to retrofit the set to fit something that just happened.

Actually, I'm pretty sure in one of the books that they said Cordak meant desolation, or something along those lines. Thinking
