Hey Greg:

1) Do you know where oir how I can contact the story team for the new Bionicle series? I have a couple questions to ask them.

2) On a lore-related note, were the Great Beings technologically advanced enough to build space ships and travel among the stars?

1) I can't give out contact info for  my colleagues. I think your best bet would be to post a topic in the BIONICLE forum, because I am pretty sure someone connected to the team is monitoring that forum.

2) Well, Mata Nui was capable of space travel, but not so far as we know interstellar travel, so I would say yes to space ships, no to traveling among the stars.

Hey Greg, I would like to ask something:

Did you actually bought BIONICLE G1 sets ? If so, how do you organize your collection ? Do you put them like in your stand or are they boxed ?

My last post on this topic for a whike, because I don't want to spam Mr. Farshtey here with my useless questions.

Did you plan to kill off Vezon in the Powers That Be/ever?

Hey Greg:

1) How long does it take to construct a matoran?

2) Protodermis possesses many qualities that natural materials don't have, such as, among other things, being afffected by Lerahk's "computer virus" poison, and undergoing immediate and complete phase changes in a matter of seconds (such as from the Hordika venom, Toa transformation). Given the artifical nature of bionicle and the MU inbatiant's status as "AI", I think it seems safe to say that protodermis is a form of programmable matter--and that all of these activities simply amount to the protodermis revieving instructions/having its code rewritten?

Or

3) Might the fact that normal protodermis is just a stabilized version of fully sentient energized protodermis have something to do with these qualities? I have a theory that although normal protodermis lacks a sapient conciousness, it is still living and active in a sense that it responds to certain external stimuli. I think that having the MU protodermis simply be an "unsapient" but still living and reactive portion of the EP entity works fairly well into the whole "biology" theme of the MU robot's insides, which are all made of protodermis. It would also explain how EP can radically affect normal protodermis--after all, it's basically affecting a version of itself without the mind.

It's an honor to be on the same topic as good 'ole Greg F. I have a few questions.

1) Will you have any involvement with the story development of this new Bionicle 2015 reboot?

2) Do you know of any plans for the reboot and the original timeline to be connected?

3) Do you think you'll ever be able to wrap up those old serials and find a new location to post them?

4) What other science fiction themes out there do you enjoy, and how do you think they compare with Bionicle?

What is the difference between the powers of a Rahkshi of Heat Vision and a Rahkshi of Laser Vision?

1,2) No

3) No. LEGO is not going to want new chapters of old story floating around when they are trying to promote new story.

4) Mainly Star Trek: TOS. I am not a huge sci-fi fan.

Heat vision is basically a heat ray. Laser vision is more precise and can be used for more things, like severing connections in circuitry, etc. For example, if you use heat vision on something, you pretty much melt it and it will be obvious to everyone. If you use laser vision, you could sabotage something without melting the entire surrounding area and no one would be the wiser.

1) Not that long, it's mostly an automated process

2) That is certainly an interesting theory. I think I would like to hear other viewpoints before canonizing it, though

3) Basically the same answer as #2

I don't know about "ever," but I had no plans to kill him ... maybe get him offstage for a long while, since he was probably past the point of being overused.

I had some built and on display in my old office, and some are still in boxes down in my basement, and some I gave to Toys for Tots

Round three!

  1. Is the Kanohi Jutlin made from Weaken disks? Their powers are nigh-identical. (As suggested by a member on BZP.)
  2. In Tales of the Masks, the first book you ever wrote for BIONICLE, Onua Nuva and Turaga Whenua encounter a large, pale, tentacled worm Rahi in the depths of Onu-Wahi. In Challenge of the Hordika, Krahka assumes the form of a large, pale, tentacled worm Rahi to fight Roodaka. Was Krahka imitating a member of the species encountered by Onua and Whenua?
  3. In Reign of Shadows, when the Toa Mahri witnessed the Skakdi creating the golden fusion, they assumed that Teridax had put the idea in the Skakdi’s minds, because only he, the Great Spirit, would know that all those beings were destined to transform. However, in an answer in this topic some weeks ago, you implied that Teridax was not responsible for giving the Skakdi that idea. If you wouldn’t mind clarifying: did Teridax manipulate the Skakdi into creating the fusion, or did he not? And if he did not, who knew, and how, that all those beings were destined to fuse?
  4. A while ago, you confirmed that Velika had agents loyal to him stationed on Bara Magna, whence they reported the goings-on to him for 100,000 years. You also confirmed that some of the characters we met in 2009 story were agents of Velika. After this was revealed, I ran a BZPower topic where members discussed which characters they suspected to be working for Velika. The top contenders were Vastus, Atakus, Metus, and Berix. Were any of these four characters working for Velika, or were our suspicious wildly off?

Thank you for your time.

1) Yes

2) At the risk of being vilified on certain fan sites, yes.

3) Metus I can confirm was not. Neither was Berix. Atakus was. As far as Vastus goes, I would like to hear the arguments for why people think he would have been before making a call on that.

Hello, Mr. Farshtey,

I posted these earlier, but I think they got lost somewhere, so I'm posting them again:

  1. Were all Toa Hagah teams comprised of six members, or did the numbers vary by Makuta?
  2. Do the inorganic forms of the Toa Inika’s Kanohi resemble their organic forms, at least to some extent (I ask because the Kanohi of Jovan and Tobduk are depicted as identical in their set forms)?
  3. Since Shadow Kraata are able to speak Matoran, can they also speak when operating a Rahkshi, or does the suit impair their speech?
  4. The set form of Miserix’s dragon form is depicted with a bladed staff-like weapon. Was this weapon his tool in his default Makuta form, just enlarged, or did he wield a different weapon?
  5. Was Icarax originally intended to be a new set incarnation of Teridax (because of the Kraahkan), or was he always supposed to be a separate Makuta?
  6. Were the shapes of the Mistika Makuta’s masks significantly altered by the waters of the Karda Nui swamp, or did they still resemble their original forms to some extent?
  7. We know that Roodaka gained limited control over Shadow by tapping into her inner darkness, and that any being can do this with proper training.  Would it then be possible for a being to gain limited powers of Light by focusing on their inner goodness?

Thank you in advance!

1) Varied

2) They looked identical because that is all that we had to work with. I do think the inorganic forms looked different, but that's just me.

3) They can speak, they just choose not to in general

4) It was his tool in Makuta form

5) He was never intended to be Teridax.

6) They still resemble their original forms to some extent

7) Possible, but really, really hard. As in Star Wars, the Dark path is always the easier one to walk.

Hey Greg, thanks for answering my previous question about Prototype. I wish I had a source on the "Natural fusions must be more than two" thing, but that info came from BS01, and they have only recently introduced a citation system. So instead, I'm gonna ask you a different question:

1) Were the mutations that were done to the ex-Shadow Matoran by Mutran reversed by Mata Nui when he reformed Spherus Magna? I know their natural light was restored by the Klakk long before that, but I don't think their physical mutations were ever said to be undone.
