I think I know the answer to this one, but I'll ask anyway.

Considering that you've reviewed 2015's story, are there any details (no matter how small) that you would be allowed to release?

E.G. Are skull spiders an existing problem in okoto or did they just appear to steal the masks of power?

(on the subject of skull spiders, the one included with Pohatu has a stinger, is it a skull scorpion?)

I am not answering any questions re: 2015, nor will I be next year. I am not on the story team and I'm not involved with the line so I am not qualified to answer story questions on it. Anything regarding the new story should be asked in the BIONICLE forum here, and hopefully someone from the new story team will appear there at some point to answer questions.

Toa Mata's torso resemble the Great Spirit Robot's torso. Was this intentional ?

No idea. The Toa Mata look came from the set designers, and the GSR torso look came from our creative agency, so I have no idea what the intent was.

When will the new Bionicle story section take place in relation to the first 3 movies? The only reason that I think it could be a coninuation of the old story is that there's been no news about a new Makuta figure, which may be because Teridax killed all of the others when he took over Mata Nui's origonal body.       HappyHappyHappyHappy

The new story is a reboot, Zev, it is not intended to be a continuation of old story. There is no point in looking for a connection to the movies. To the best of my knowledge, the events of the movies did not happen in this storyline. The reason is very simple: old story ended almost five years ago. Most of today's 8 and 9 year olds -- the ones most likely to buy sets -- were 3 and 4 at the time. Expecting them to catch up on old story to get into new BIONICLE would be unreasonable.

Well TTV interviewed some of the BIONICLE people at NYCC, and they said something along the lines of "Remember what Vakama made in LOMN?", and then they said it was the Vahi, and they suggested that there was something off about it, as if it was only 'half a mask'...

Might as well ask this now. Is the Vahi half a mask?

Boidoh,

As you know, I am not answering questions re: BIONICLE 2015. I answered the question above because it had to do with where something fit in with old story. I am not going to comment on new story because I am not on the story team and I do not know what their intentions are for future story.

I think it would've saved a lot of time if I had just asked this instead of asking all the other questions, so:

Who DID you plan to kill off in The Powers that Be?

Hey Greg:

1) So I take it that you won't be answering the brain question anytime soon? Did you at least have something in mind, like with the TSO's name? Either way, I understand, I guess (but I still hope there's an answer sometime in the future).

2) If a Makuta's antidermis dissipates very quickly outside of its armor, then how was Teridax able to travel from Mahri Nui all the way to the Core Processor in his gaseous form without dying?

  1. There was a Mask of Gravity seen in the story. Is it possible that there are masks for every element?
  2. In addition, you said that it was possible for there to be masks of Weakness, Freezing, Remove Poison, and Increase Weight (disk types listed but never seen as mask types). As we now know that the Jultin is actually the Mask of Weakness, is it safe to say that there are masks of those disk types? If so, would it be safe to say that the Mask of Freezing freezes matter, the mask of Removing Poison cures illness and poisons, and the Mask of Increase Weight has the ability to increase the weight of targets?
  3. "Levitation Disks" have been mentioned, along with "Increase Speed Disks" which co-responds to the Mask of Levitation and Speed. However, the Miru was made from Teleport and Weaken disks, while the Kakama is made of Teleport and RaR disks. Would it make sense for disks that fuse with each other to have the effect of the Mask they would make?
  4. Naho was known to meet her demise on a mission to shut off the flood gates at the hands of Eliminator. It's known that a Kakama was found around the are she would be. Is it safe to say that Naho wore a Kakama?

Hello Greg. I hope you are doing well. Smile

1. Without a Ta-Matoran's resistance to fire, Takua must have been very uncomfortable in their usual habitats. Did he or anyone else ever notice this as being very odd? Did they just chalk it up to 'well that's Takua for you?' Or did the Order find a way to make it so that he'd be more comfortable/no one else would think much of it? (Personally I believe such discomfort would have made him feel like even more of an outsider and been a contributing factor to his wanderlust, but that's just my speculative rambling. Joking)

2. It's mentioned that Matoran are the main inhabitants of the MU. Does that mean there were more of them than any other race, or just that they were considered the most important one?

3. Any time Matoran in other lands are mentioned, it's always villages or isolated groups like the Nynrah Ghosts. Metru Nui was supposed to be the greatest city in the MU, but were there any other large Matoran cities, or just lots of scattered villages?

4. Was the whole 'ability to control protodermis' trick something only Teridax could do (because he was destined to take over the MU, maybe?) or could any being with enough knowledge, willpower, and plain ol' power learn to do it as well?

5. We have it written down on BS01 that Toa armor is a separate object that Toa can remove if necessary (though with no source for that information), but a member asserts that Toa armor is just their regular protodermis exoskeleton transformed into a new shape and so cannot be removed. Which is correct?

6. Was it hard to hand the keys to the Bionicle kingdom to a new group of people?

(And on an entirely selfish note, my love for Kapura knows no bounds, so thank you for all the times you slipped him into the story instead of leaving him behind as just another Matoran.)

(Actually, thanks for doing that with a lot of characters.)

(Really, just thanks for writing Bionicle in general.)

As always, thank you for your time. Smile

Maybe Flash, that might be fun.

In the mask of light movie, Takua doesn't recognize the markings on the Avohkii, even though they are the characters of the matoran language. Does the movie just use this as a plot point? Or is Takua (or was he at any stage) illiterate?

I always assumed it was an ancient dialect he did not know.

1) That probably did inspire some of his wanderings

2) They were the majority

3) I am sure there were other cities, but MN was the brain of the robot, so the most important

4) Is that listed as a specific Makuta power anywhere?

5) It is a separate object

6) Not really. BIONICLE 2015 sets and story were already developed before I knew it was coming back.

1) It's theoretically possible, yes

2) A mask based on one disk would have the power of that disk.

3) I don't understand your question

4) Yes

1) It's really not something I have worried about. I created parts of the universe as I needed them. If I didn't need something, I didn't invest time in thinking about it.

2) I don't recall us saying "very quickly," offhand, but don't Makuta have the ability to teleport?

2) Yes, Makuta could teleport. I have their powers memorised. Joking

I was wondering- could Makuta teleport anything, or just themselves?
