Hey Greg!

You may not like this question, but I really want to ask it. Embarrassed There have been many epic 1 v 1 battles in the BIONICLE story. Takanuva vs. Makuta, The Shadowed One vs. Makuta, and Axonn vs. Brutaka are all great examples of epic battles. So my question is this: THEORETICALLY, which two characters that have never fought before would you like to see fight the most?

Thanks!

p.s. I love you. Happy Happy Wink

Tahtorak and one of the bio-mechancial dinosaurs we were going to introduce in 2011.

Ah yes, I remember a few mentionings of those dinosaurs. I think the first i saw was from that rough copy of a script that somebody who was "official" wrote (maybe you?) for the 5th BIONICLE movie. Which leads me to my next question. How much of the BIONICLE storyline was YOUR idea? Were any of the big plot ideas your own (Matoro's death, Mata Nui dying, Mata Nui being a robot), or did you mostly handle the smaller story details?

Also, as a side question, were Vortixx different colors? I know that Roodaka had black armor, but in one of the comics there was a green vortixx. Was that just a mistake, or can Vortixx really be green?

Thank you!!!!

p.s. To save time, you could probably ask the mods to not let through all the questions about the serials continuing. I understand that not everybody reads every question, so there are doubles, but there is an outrageous amount of people asking that same question. Just a friendly suggestion Angel

It varied. For example, Mata Nui being a robot was NOT my idea. Mata Nui dying was mine and someone else's, I think. Makuta's secret plan to take over Mata Nui's body was my idea. Some things I did, and some things were ideas someone had, then I built on, then someone else built on, and it wound up being a team effort.

Thank you very much for answering my last question. If I may, Mr. Farshtey, I would like to ask one more. Why exactly are the kestora in the Red Star in the first place? Are they caretakers of the place, or were they made to assist in the transfer os spirits to new bodies? Also, was the reason why Kopaka saw so many gruesome things inside the star due to the reason that perhapos the Kestora did what they said they would do to and tried disecting various beings to find out why they could not go back to Mata Nui?

Also, how did the residence of the MU take care of their dead? Did they bury them and put their masks on display or some such thing?

Thank you for your time.

There was no need to bury them, since the bodies disappeared.

The Kestora were basically the crew of the red star. As for Kopaka, if you saw a bunch of people you knew to be dead up and walking around, you would be freaked out too.

Greg, can I have a list of EVERY theme you ever worked on?

If you are looking for lines I have actually been on the story team for, it is pretty much just BIONICLE. I have written freelance for BIONICLE, Ninjago, Chima, LEGO DC Super Heroes and Hero Factory. I have done Club magazine work on pretty much every theme for the last 13 years.

I find it funny that the mods keep telling me there is no death in any LEGO theme when there are so many examples of where it is.

Alright, added it to the Bionicle wikia page about Acid: ', neither can they be created by the Great Beings'.

But what do you mean with 'not a Toa element'? Does that mean that every species has got its own set of elements it could possibly be? Or is that statement not meant like that?

There were certain elements that we considered to be elements you could have a Toa of. Acid is not one of them. Back when I was on BZPower, I was always being asked if new elements could be added to that list, and a couple times we did, but mostly we did not because we didn't want to have too many different Toa.

That is what LEGO themes are al about, aren't they?Confused Every LEGO theme leaves some spots open that we can fill in with our MOCs. Bionicle did too: the genocide of the Toas of Iron gives us a change to build a lot of non-contradicting MOCs. The many characters that don't have their designs revealed give us a lot of oppertunity to make desings that fit into the story line, while we are thinking: It could be canon, it isnt, but it could be!Happy Nektann's army, I mean, come on, they don't really all look like Nektann, do they?Nerd I thought, this is for the MOCs: you can make MOCs that fit into the story line, they are not canon, but they also don't contradict the canon.Angel

I'm not entirely sure what you are asking, but fan fiction is just that - it's fan fiction - it can be whatever the fan writing it wants it to be, because it is not official.

So be carefull about calling stuff 'fan-fiction', as it may hurt someone. We are all just as important for the theme. Like you said: Bionicle couldn't exist without its fans.

That is the story of the Bionicle!

I am unclear what you are upset about. Fiction written by fans of anything -- Star Wars, Avengers, Batman, anything - - is called "fan fiction." That's the term. I could write an Avengers story that doesn't contradict anything, but unless Marvel or Disney declares it an official part of their history, it's fiction written by a fan (me). I have written fan fiction for Dr. Who and Star Trek in my life. I take no offense at that term, so I am not sure why you would. The term "fan fiction" is not a perjorative or an insult and it shouldn't hurt anyone's feelings. If you are a fan of something, and you write a story about it, that's what you are writing. Until and unless someone makes it canon, that is what it is, whether you write it or I write it. (Heck if I wrote a BIONICLE story and posted it without getting LEGO approval -- which I wouldn't do, but if I did -- that would be fan fiction too.)

So I grew up with Bionicle and am surprised there was even a mention of it in LEGO.  So, will you ever bring it back?  Or do you need the help of the young minds of today?  My best friend Jordan and I were devastated when we learned that it was gone, and to this day, we still have building challenges between one another.  So, will you revive it?  Will you bring the GREATEST LEGO theme back?  Please do.  I am asking not just for myself, but the rest of us who loved it so much.  Thanks for your time,

Not up to me, Secter. It's a decision that would have to be made by the people who run LEGO Company. While I would love to see it come back, I have no influence over that call.

Bionicle questions...why is it over?? Joking Just kidding again. You know, you did such a good job with the universe of Bionicle I don't think I have any questions. Surprised I'll get back to you on questions. Time to go to the library and check out all the graphic novels and stuff related to Bionicle. Joking

Oh, I have a question. What was your favorite part of Bionicle? Was it the Piraka arc, or the Phantoka arc, or the Bhorak arc? Maybe it was the Visorak arc? Or the Toa Mahri and Barraki arc?

The year I have a soft spot for was 2004. It was not the best story we did, but it was the first year I got to write all the books for.

On a side not, it's great to meet a LEGO Legend like you around on these boards, thanks for taking the time to answer our questions!

No plans at this point, no, not unless the line comes back.

Hmm, OK, figured that.

Anyway, what do you think of fanfiction? The Bionicle universe is so massive, it supports plenty of it!

What is your favorite race in Bionicle?

What made you choose your account name?

Lastly, does LEGO still have rules/regulations that prevent you from interacting with the community, such as BZP?

Thanks for your time!

1) Mmmm, not sure.

2) Not sure why everyone is so interested in this Smile

3) Yes. I do have permission to do social media, but I cannot talk on an outside site to people under 13, and since BZP has no age verification, I can't chat there anymore.

2) I'm not sure either. Probably because it's not something generic, like GregF. =P

3) I should get an age limit campaign going there then, so you can come back! They need one anyway. =P
