1) Actually, I don't remember offhand what we said those meant, I would have to look it up. If we did say it was related to Spherus Magna, then it's a massive retcon because Spherus Magna had not even been conceived until 2007.

3) Bota Magna is the third piece of Spherus Magna, which is largely jungle.

4) Depends on what you mean by "worked on." Running the magazine, I have pretty much written for all of them.

5) I don't know that there is a most common.

6) No way to know if a G3 would happen or if I would work on it. Given that I did not work on G2, I tend to think I wouldn't be asked to work on a G3 either, if it happened.

7) Great Beings' science.

8) They have referred to the "way of the BIONICLE" in the movies a few times. I was told BIONICLE stood for "biological chronicle"

1) I thought I remember the part in Bionicle 4 when the mask of life is flying through space, it flies through a nebula with three planets, shaped like the UDD symbol. Maybe I'm just crazy. Joking

3) Does anything live there?

4) I guess I mean besides the magazine. EG, you wrote the stories for G1 Bionicle and NinjaGo comics. Did you write books for any other themes?

7) Makes sense.

8) I thought it was Bionic Chronicle. So...the way of the Bionicle? Does that mean they consider Bionicle to be the story of their word? Like we call ours History, and they call theirs Bionicle?

Hi Greg Smile

Am I correct to assume that Matoran do not have a sense of taste? I mean, we don't (ever?) see them eating food all that much, at least not in the traditional sense. But of course, the question is, if a Matoran were to stick something into his mouth, would he be able to taste it.

1) Aqua Bota and Bara Magna DID form the Unity. Duty. Destiny. logo but it was for artistic purposes rather than symbolic meaning I think.

Can Bohrok survive in a vacuum?

If so, were they ever used to do external repairs/cleaning debris while the GSR was in space?

Alright, here's something that’s been bothering me for some time. I’ve tried repeatedly to map the League of Six Kingdoms as it stands, but I have difficulty reconciling the current list with the idea that the League controlled the entire universe (excluding Karzahni, Artakha, Metru Nui, and most of the Southern Islands) and had largely equal sized territories. I know that here everything can be found either implied in the Mutran Chronicles or stated explicitly in some parts of the Bionicle Encyclopedia Updated, but I’ve also found that the BEU contradicts itself with regards to the League of Six Kingdoms.

As it stands, the League arrangement goes

  • Pridak: Northeast region
  • Kalmah: Northwest region
  • Takadox: Southwest region
  • Ehlek: Western Islands
  • Mantax: Central Area
  • Carapar: Southern Area

However, Takadox’s entry in the BEU has some different information (and encompasses the entire universe aside from the exempt areas). If Takadox’s entry is believed, the arrangement goes something like this (with parenthesis indicating probable locations)

  • Pridak: Northwest region (likely the Northern Continent plus Xia)
  • Kalmah: Northeast region (likely Stelt, Zakaz, some islands in the northern section of the eastern island chain and other territories within that region)
  • Takadox: Eastern Islands (likely most of the eastern island chain)
  • Ehlek: Western Islands (likely most of the western island chain)
  • Mantax: Central Area (likely the Southern Continent)
  • Carapar: Southern Areas (likely the more populated areas in the north of the Southern Island Chains—islands such as Artidax, north including the Shadowed One’s homeland; and Keetongu’s homeland, north)

This arrangement makes much more sense in my opinion, and it technically wouldn't require a retcon. What do you think?

(And if it's all the same, please give a definite answer either way or ask if you want more information. The guys at BS01 have had some difficulty with 'I guess' answers. Thanks.)

What did the Barraki's species look like originally (minus Ehlek which we have already seen)? Did they look similar to Toa, or did they already look like their mutated forms, but less so?

Hi Greg, hope you're doing well!
I have a few questions today:
1) Why exactly did Velika choose a Po-Matoran body?
2) In a pretty old answer on this thread you said that in the Kingdom AU Velika took the body of one of the Matoran of MNOG. Since in the Core Dimension he chose a Po-Matoran body, is it possible that in this AU he chose Hafu's?
3) Regarding the Earth Tribe's "dark story", were you given permission by LEGO to post it, or did you not need their permission? If not, what's stopping you from finishing the serials?
Also, I had asked you another few questions on page 876, but you missed them, could you answer them? Right now I'm on mobile so I can't quote them.
Thanks!

Hey Greg! Let me just thank you for taking time out of your day to talk to us fans of BIONICLE. Even if you don't hear it much, it means a lot to all of us.

You have said countless times on this forum that you had no part in the story of Gen 2, so you probably can't answer this, but is it even canon? Let me rephrase: does it have any connection/similarities at all to Gen 1? The reason I ask is because of the Vahi, mask of time. As we learned in the graphic novel, Battle of the Mask Makers, the upper half of the Vahi exists and its powers differ from the lower half of Gen 1, where it can show the user the future (not just what may happen, but what will happen). The upper half is also said to be older than the stars. The question is: did an upper half exist in Gen 1? The only mask of power in Gen 2 that doesn't exist in Gen 1 is Makuta's mask of control (unless it did, then you can correct me). I understand that it probably wasn't the intention to have two parts of the Mask of Time in 2003-2004, but it certainly was in Gen 2. How does this affect Gen 1? Does it not change, or reveal a possible hidden truth?

On the Vahi page of biosector01, it says "The Kanohi Vahi, Kanohi Ignika and Mask of Creation are on the same power level because Time, Life and Creation are all fundamental forces of the universe." The Great Beings created the Ignika and the Mask of Creation, but not the Vahi. Why is it different? Did they actually create the upper half, while Vakama created the lower?

Insofar as my understanding of the symbol of the Three Virtues and it's meaning, the GBs designed it to subconciously remind Mata Nui of his mission - to rejoin Spherus Magna, whilst also providing something that would help the main workforce of Matoran to have a unifying ideal pertinent to completing and focusing on their task without problems arising from differing ideals. Whether the planets formed said configuration or not doesn't matter, it was just something they designed to have multiple purposes. I think.

Hello Greg,

You once said that the black fire of Maxilos robots is not the same as normal flames. I would like to ask how are they different apart from the color. Does it have a different effect on a target ?

Thank you!

Fota, all I can tell you is that to my knowledge there was no connection between Gens 1 and 2, nor was there meant to be. The story bible I read for Gen2 made absolutely no mention of the Gen1 universe. Whether that changed over time, I can't tell you, because I wasn't on the story team.

I understand, but is it entirely possible that an upper half of the Vahi exists in the Gen 1 universe? It would certainly fill the hole that it is the only one of the three legendary masks not created by the Great Beings.

Hey Greg, guess who?

So, may question is:

In the Rahaga instruction booklets, all of them (save Gaaki) are referred to by names other then the ones we know. For example, Norik is called Tahkon. My question is, what are these names? A severe typo? The development stage names? Or something else?

Thank you for your time. Happy

You could say it was just "Tahk'd-on"! Ha! Sorry, that was a bad joke.

Anyway, I'd like to ask you, Greg, some Ninjago-related questions:

1. What was in Ninjago BEFORE The First Spinjitzu Master "created" it? Were there still humans around or did he just come into existence out of nowhere?
2. The Serpentine were created by The First Spinjitzu Master, right? It wasn't just some tale that the Serpentine taught their children, right?
3. Did he also create all of the animals there?
4. Did he create the humans there too?
5. The elements are very confusing; Lloyd's element is "energy", even though it's separate from Jay's element, which is lightning. "Darkness" is also a separate element from "shadow", and instead is an "evil" version of "energy". In order to simplify and prevent confusion, can we refer to "energy" as "positive energy" and "darkness" as "negative energy", with "golden energy" just being a really enhanced "positive energy"?
6. Is there an opposite of "golden energy"? Something among the lines of "complete darkness" or "black energy"? After all, there must always be a counterbalance between "good" and "evil", right?

Thanks, and I look forward to your response, Greg.
